Missing atrwork in left pane

After installing FireFox 3.5 RC1, RC2 & RC3 I had problems with missing artwork - for all albums and tracks - in the left pane of SqueezeCentre (7.3.3). Tried all the usual things, clearing browser cache, cookies etc - artwork was still missing.

A reinstall of FF 3.11 put all the artwork back.

SC is running on Linux: a QNAP TS-509 fw 3.1.0 build 618T; SSOTS 3.18
FireFox 3.5 running from Vista and also Windows 7 RC1

Sorry - first time I've reported a bug so I committed it before completing the description. So to continue...

I'm currently using SC 7.3.4-27205 but get the same problem with 7.3.3-27044. Have also tried regressing SSOTS from 3.18 -> 3.17 ->3.16 -> 3.15 and again, artwork is missing.

FF RC1 was 'English (British)' downloaded direct from Mozilla at: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Updates to RC2 & RC3 were through FF built in update mechanism.

The missing artwork is seen on different PC's with different OS's - Vista Ultimate x86 and Windows 7 Ultimate RC1. Both OS's fully patched.

No information about the problem in SC log's. I think it may be solely a FF 3.5 issue. When I revert to FF 3.11 all artwork is back.

Hmmm....

Not sure now! Have just started using SC with FF 3.11 today - missing artwork there now as well. I just tried with IE 8 as well and missing artwork there as well.

I think maybe I'll try a clean install of SC 7.3.3-2705, SSOTS 3.15 & FF 3.11. If it works at that point, I'll try a stepwise update of each componenet and see what happens at each point - will test with IE8 as well. I'll get back and let you know.

After extensive testing it appears that this artwork now disappears on even the most basic install of SC - and with all versions of FF or IE.

Further investigation has (I think) almost certainly pinned it down to an update of 'Kaspersky Internet Suite'. I moved from KIS 2009 (v8.0.0.506) to KIS 2010 (v9.0.9.459) a few days ago. Something in the newer version looks as if it's blocking artwork in the left pane of SC.

Any idea's?

Solved...

The problem is Kaspersky Internet Suite and it's 'Anti-Banner' setting.

If KIS Ani-Banner is enabled the server name needs to be added to 'Use White list of addresses'. Alternatively disable Anti-Banner or Black & White lists - I leave them all enabled in order to maintain as high a security level as possible.

In the White list add for example: 'localhost:9001' or 'NAS-Name:9001'

I guess that the artwork in question comes from the server as a banner.

I should have investigated more comprehensively before reporting this as an SC bug - took 2 days to work it out and a complete 'clean' install of SC. Not a bad thing as the MySQL database size reduced to about 50% of it's original size - must have been a lot of junk data in it.

Thanks and sorry to waste your time...

Dan: you may want to be aware of this in support, in case more customers call about the issue.

What was your Thumbnail Size set to under Settings > Interface? Many banner ad blockers operate simply by blocking images that match the 20 or so common banner sizes.

Thumbnail size has been left at the default of 100 pixels
