Description Diane Lee 2009-06-26 10:21:21 UTC
Asks for a WEP password on a WPA network
Comment 1 Blackketter Dean 2009-06-26 11:52:06 UTC
QA to reproduce
Comment 2 James Richardson 2009-06-29 09:32:51 UTC
QA has seen this on and off, in very specific firmware versions. Currently r627x does not exhibit this behavior.

We will continue to monitor the behavior, to make sure it does not come back for MP RC
Comment 3 James Richardson 2009-06-30 09:31:29 UTC
Felix suggests do a wpa_cli scan_r in a serial console when this happens to verify state is correct.
Comment 4 James Richardson 2009-07-01 09:11:02 UTC
Richard: Could this issue also be addressed by the new Athros driver?
Comment 5 Richard Titmuss 2009-07-01 09:24:51 UTC
Maybe.
Comment 6 Chris Owens 2009-07-07 10:15:05 UTC
This bug has been identified as one that may not be required for MPQ since it now seems clear that MPQ and MP firmwares will be different. Please comment if you disagree with this assessment. Thanks!
Comment 7 James Richardson 2009-07-08 13:55:17 UTC
r6430 does address this issue. Should we close it as fixed or wait for newer drivers?

Deferring bug to MP till a decision is made.

ONLY when a WPA Push Button router is used do I see any type of confusion now. Baby/Fab4 will always ask for the 'type' of encryption used, no matter what type is set.
Comment 8 Felix Mueller 2009-07-09 06:36:45 UTC
Hmm, I re-tested this with my five WPS capable routers and when selecting 'Enter Wireless Password' as option I always get the correct encryption mode presented.

What does wpa_cli scan_results show in such a case?
Comment 9 James Richardson 2009-07-09 15:00:10 UTC
Linsys WRT610N set to WiFi Protected mode with NO encryption
Baby r6473
Factory Reset baby, go through the setup wizard
Select AP
Select WPS Login Method: Enter Wireless Password
See the following:
Open network (no password)
WEP 64-bit (10 Characters)
WEP 128-big (26 Characters)
WPA Personal
WPA2 Personal

Fixed in r6577. If a WPS capable AP has encryption set to none we now directly connect.
