Bugzilla – Bug 12544
WPA/WEP confusion
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:20:16 UTC
Asks for a WEP password on a WPA network
QA to reproduce
QA has seen this on and off, in very specific firmware versions. Currently r627x does not exhibit this behavior. We will continue to monitor the behavior, to make sure it does not come back for MP RC
Felix suggests do a wpa_cli scan_r in a serial console when this happens to verify state is correct.
Richard: Could this issue also be addressed by the new Athros driver?
Maybe.
This bug has been identified as one that may not be required for MPQ since it now seems clear that MPQ and MP firmwares will be different. Please comment if you disagree with this assessment. Thanks!
r6430 does address this issue. Should we close it as fixed or wait for newer drivers? Deferring bug to MP till a decision is made. ONLY when a WPA Push Button router is used do I see any type of confusion now. Baby/Fab4 will always ask for the 'type' of encryption used, no matter what type is set.
Hmm, I re-tested this with my five WPS capable routers and when selecting 'Enter Wireless Password' as option I always get the correct encryption mode presented. What does wpa_cli scan_results show in such a case?

Fixed in r6577. If a WPS capable AP has encryption set to none we now directly connect.
