Bugzilla – Bug 12390
Controller not showing certain album art - Reboot of SBC fixes issue
Last modified: 2009-10-25 10:28:50 UTC
Upon upgrading to the 6038 firmware, I've started experiencing missing album art on the controller. The art is fine within the web interface. A reboot to the controller seems to resolve the issue. Not sure what makes the art not display or the randomness of the albums involved. 1) I can say that no server scan or complete rescan has been involved over the last 2 weeks, so it shouldn't be server related. I'll continue to pay attention and update if it starts disappearing again.
Just a Note from QA: this started happening with SBC r2448. It is not a consistent bug, and rebooting the controller always clears up the issue.
I do experience the same, in various ways. a) in Album view some art might be there or not (seems to be random from time to time) b) The "Now Playing" screensaver with the big album art often shows the image, but the actual album view might as well show the generic icon. I'm using r3993
I experience similar symptoms. Running 7.3 r6038. Listening to an album. My playing screen showed "generic icon" rather than correct album art. I navigated to the music library/albums and about 1/2 the albums showed album art, the remainder had generic icon. Performed power cycle on controller, and all artwork seems to be displaying correctly now.
I can confirm comment #3. I am also running SC Version: 7.3.3 - 27044 with the latest firmware for the duet controller. Here's a description of how this bug can easily be reproduced: 1) boot the controller 2) browse thru parts your music library and playback some tracks. Cover art should be displayed properly. 3) Start listening to a deezer radio station (e.g. deezer://83.dzr). You will notice that album art, which is normally transmitted within a deezer audio stream, is not being displayed. 4) Go back to your music library and browse thru a different part that you have not selected in step 1. You will notice that album art is not being displayed anymore. Album art within a deezer audio stream is only being displayed when selecting the deezer radio station immediately after booting the controller.
I also experience this problem, both with 7.3.2 and 7.3.3, on Gentoo Linux. Rhapsody tracks often do not have artwork displayed. Power cycling the Controller usually fixes the problem.
Hi, I too have troubles with album art. see http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63827
I've noticed similar behaviour with both 7.4 5580 and 7.3.3 6038 firmware. An easy way to get the error is to select random song mix more than once. I invariably get mixed up album art and the occassional generic blank showing.
I had a weird experience: I intended to browse the new music menu, then i saw that artwork got shifted one position in th list so that one album got the artwork the album 1 position down in th list ? Then i shifted to the album view instead, and my SBC seemed to flush all album artwork and i saw only place holders and spinning circles and the list where very slowly filling up with art ? then i tested oneother thing and saw that this bug sudenly was gone https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12706 ? weird indeed. I did a reboot and all artworks was there again as usual even if it had not have the time to "fill in all the gaps" is it tried to do before the reboot ? so it only appears to do that. I will attach two logs which i fear is worthless but anyway ( a lot of junk since in them from other experimnets turning the server on and of etc, so the event is probably not there anymore) A more intresting file is the core-jive623 crash data which is dated around the same time as this happened
Created attachment 5440 [details] core-jive.623 crash data probably of interest
Created attachment 5441 [details] log from my sbc
Created attachment 5442 [details] log from my sbc
As with #4 above, I find the loss of cover art on the controller to be linked to what you may try to play. I find that after attempting to use Sirius Internet Radio, I lose cover art on everything. Rebooting the controller ALWAYS fixes the problem. In my case though, I still am having problems with Sirius in general as it always says Unrecognized Error BEAD110B whenever I try to access any Siruius Internet Radio channel. So I do not know if that has anything to do with this problem for me as well.
Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.
Can we move this to 7.3.4? It's going to be quite some time before 7.4 is stable enough for most of us to move to it.
Jeff: We would not be able to port this change to 7.3.4
That's alright, with 7.4 now staying MYSQL, I'm looking forward to it.
This appears to be addressed in 7.4, as I have not seen this issue for some time (during QA) on this version. Marking bug as fixed for now, if anyone wants to download and test 7.4 feel free to grab a copy from here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.4 Realizing that this is still a BETA version, and subject to faults - feel free to open bugs found :O
This bug has been marked as fixed in the 7.4.0 release version of SqueezeBox Server! * SqueezeCenter: 28672 * Squeezebox 2 and 3: 130 * Transporter: 80 * Receiver: 65 * Boom: 50 * Controller: 7790 * Radio: 7790 Please see the Release Notes for all the details: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Release_Notes If you haven't already, please download and install the new version from http://www.logitechsqueezebox.com/support/download-squeezebox-server.html If you are still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen the bug with your new comments and we'll have another look.
I'm running 7.4.1 r7866 on a ReadyNAS Duo and unfortunately, the controller does not show any artwork - while the web interface of the server shows the artwork correctly. When I had 7.4.0 running, it was actually working fine.
kongo09, if you reboot the controller, does album art show up?
(In reply to comment #20) > kongo09, if you reboot the controller, does album art show up? I'm not entirely sure what qualifies as a reboot, but I did switch it off by pressing the on/off button, took out the battery, put it back and switched it back on. The cover art re-appeared.
I just upgraded to 7.4.1 r28947 and I am now experiencing missing artwork on my Duet. I have reboot, rescanned, rebooted the server/pc without success. I haven't had this problem until I upgraded..
(In reply to comment #22) "I have reboot, rescanned, rebooted the server/pc without success." This is a different bug, please open a new bug report.
