Description Maor Avni 2009-06-09 23:07:05 UTC
I just installed squeezeCenter 7.4 build 26954. When I browse the library, all Hebrew strings are not displayed at all, both file names and tags.

When the player is playing, and I have the spectrum analyzer displayed at the background, I can see it. All text display is gone - even the counter (x of y) when you browse through the folders.

Both my SqueezeBox 3 and SoftSqueeze have the same bug, so I guess this is server side.

It worked on 7.3.2.

I'll try 7.3.3 and see how it goes.

I just tried it on SqueezeCenter 7.3.3 build 26751. Hebrew strings work fine.

Thank you for the confirmation Maor, can you also try the latest 7.4 build to see if Hebrew still functions with that version?

It's too early in the morning for me...please ignore this comment

Just out of curiosity, how are the fonts displayed?

As I figured it out, there are bitmapped fonts in the graphics folder. These are the fonts I have available from player display settings page.

However, the Hebrew characters are probably not taken from there, as the bitmapped fonts don't have any Hebrew characters in them.

Is it rendered using a truetype font? If so, why isn't all display rendered using a truetype font?

Moving 7.4 bugs to 8.0.
Comment 6 Maor Avni 2009-07-29 22:20:54 UTC
What do you you're moving the bug? Does this mean that I won't be able to use version 7.4 because I won't have Hebrew strings in it?
Comment 7 Andy Grundman 2009-07-29 22:27:46 UTC
If 7.3.3 works then 7.4 will likely work too. We are deferring the SQLite branch changes to 8.0 and so 7.4 will be different than what you probably tested. Keep an eye on the beta forum to see when the 7.4 nightlies move back to the more stable code.

Unfortunately it's incorrect. Apparently there's been some changes to the way text is displayed in version 7.4. I've just downloaded the latest nightly build and the bug still occurs.

Latest build was 27885.

Right, like I said, you are using the wrong build, wait a few days.
