Bugzilla – Bug 12291
tweaks to wording on Shortcuts setting
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:23:43 UTC
Well done on the Shortcuts menu. I think this will settle some stuff for us. A couple of cosmetic tweaks: 1. "Top Left Button Press" should be "Left Button Touch" 2. "Top Left Button Hold" should be "Left Button Hold" 3. "Go Home" should just be "Home" 4. "Now playing" should be "Now Playing" 5. "Now Playing Playlist" should be "Playlist" 6. "Left to Right Swipe" can be "Swipe Right" I think that the 4 items should use a selection model like Shuffle and Repeat (i.e. not a sub menu, but rather having the text rotate through on the right), but I'm slightly concerned that we may have a space constraint in some languages. I propose that we try it this way and if it doesn't fit, fall back to sub menus, but using radio buttons instead of checkboxes and > arrows. Thanks!

> 6. "Left to Right Swipe" can be "Swipe Right" Why not also "Right to left swipe" becomes "Swipe left"?
Of course, I assumed that both would change. :)
I'd like to make a suggestion, but it may also affect the behavior slightly. Right now the right button touch is _not_ always "Now Playing", it's actually "Now Playing", then "Playlist". So "Now Playing, Playlist" would be a better way to express this option if the current button touch behavior is to be maintained. Similarly, "Playlist" would become "Playlist, Now Playing". So what you have is they always go back and forth, no matter which one comes first. I think this is also how swiping should also work when either of these are chosen. If you choose "Now Playing, Playlist" for left swiping, for instance, the first swipe takes you to Now Playing, then another takes you to the Playlist.
Agreed with Dean, except for #5. "Now playing playlist" should be "Current Playlist" (Dean, you probably just forgot about this), as should be all references to that screen.
Actually, I was worried about the length of "Current Playlist" vs "Playlist" and so shortened it. If "Current Playlist" fits, then fine.
