The "Unsupported Sample-Rate" message was only added in 7.3.3. It means what it says: the sample-rate of the file is not supported for the particular player, given the configuration of SC in place. For 7.3.*, downsampling AIFF and WAV to MP3 is supported if lame is installed. Otherwise, playback of 88200 & 96000 sample-rate WAV and AIFF files is only supported on Transporter. An enhancement will be implemented in SC 7.4 to downsample AIFF and WAV to FLAC: see bug 11285 and bug 10660.
