Bugzilla – Bug 12243
Control Panel consuming lots of CPU on Windows XP
Last modified: 2009-10-05 14:32:20 UTC
When I leave the Control Panel open on my XP laptop, it seems to be noticably slower than previously. The Windows task manager says it's using around 5-6% of the CPU intermittently when it's open. That sure sounds like a lot of CPU for a control panel! Screenshot of task manager enclosed.

> The Windows task manager says it's using around 5-6% of the CPU > intermittently when it's open. What revision are you using? Make sure it's the really latest, as there was a bug which caused update queries every 250ms (which should only happen every 5-10 seconds). And why would anyone want to leave that open anyway? :-)
Mickey/QA - do you still see this load with the latest nightlies? I've applied quite a few optimizations over the past few days. Even on my 5yrs old laptop I'm way beyond that value.
Definitely much better with 7.4 version 26846. Marking as closed.
