Bugzilla – Bug 12236
Shortcut in Music Folders appears as folder name but sorted under shortcut file name
Last modified: 2010-05-24 07:12:04 UTC
I have a shortcut in my local database pointing to another machine \\Laptop\Music the shortcut filename is Laptop. When browsing the music folder in order to access the music on my laptop, the laptop's music directory appears as "Music", however it is sorted under L for, presumably, its actual filename. It's a little inconsistent, and it would seem to be it would be better if the shortcut file name itself appeared.
Andy - while you're at it?...
Shortcuts should probably be displayed more obviously, as "-> \\Laptop\Music" or something like that.
Moving 7.4 bugs to 8.0.
(In reply to comment #3) > Moving 7.4 bugs to 8.0. I've just installed 7.4 and it appears that this bug has changed: shortcuts within the same machine work fine, as they always have done. However, the shortcut to my Laptop is now properly named "Laptop" and listed under "L" in Music Folder, as it should. However, when I enter it, SC 7.4 treats it as an album with no tracks. When I select it, I just get options like "More Info" and "Save as Favourite" instead of a list of files/directories.

(In reply to comment #5) It points to a UNC path, \\Laptop\Music.
Is there any hope of this being fixed any time soon? Or does it require major rearchitecting?
(In reply to comment #7) > Is there any hope of this being fixed any time soon? Or does it require major > rearchitecting? After some advice on the forums, I've realised that the problem is with permissions granted to the user which is running the SBS on my server. Local System does not have the rights to access network resources. Running as a normal user allows me to access music on UNC paths through a shortcut without problems. The mislabelling of the shortcut in the folder listing was fixed in 7.4.0 so I think this bug can be closed.
