Description Robert 2009-05-31 08:51:58 UTC
In order to enhance the SqueezeBox Boom to be more like a CD/Music player and allow casual users to access features more easily, this is a feature enhancement request to allow the 'Repeat', 'Shuffle' and 'Synchronize' features to be accessible from the Top Level Menu in the Boom.

(That is, add those features to the configuration list in SqueezeCenter Settings > Player > Menus).

These features are used constantly by music listeners (e.g., look at any CD player) and it is counter-intuitive to find them in the 'Settings' menu.

Furthermore, and more importantly, Booms can then be configured to allow access to the Repeat, Shuffle and Synchronize features without allowing access to the Settings menu (which can then be separately disabled from the Players > Menus web page).

It is a good thing to disable access to the Settinge menu because it stops casual or guest users from causing issues with the overall system.

Patches from the Community welcome :)

This is really a Squeezebox Server issue although it particularly appropriate to Boom because of the front-panel UI and lack of such buttons on the Boom IR remote.

All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform.
We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or
which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.

In the case of this feature, a community contribution would be considered.
