Description Gordon Harris 2005-03-28 14:47:51 UTC
Since Slimserver now supports DISC and DISCC tags in some formats (see
http://forums.slimdevices.com/gforum.cgi?post=37043#37043 ) it would be nice if
these keywords were supported in cuesheets (both external and flac-embedded.)

flac currently supports the standard vorbis comment DISCNUMBER for the
slimserver attribute DISC (equivelent to the id3 SET tag).
I'm not sure what you mean by supporting them in cuesheets, I don't think the
cuesheet format has a keyword for dealing with this concept.

Since the cuesheet format seems so fluid (at least I haven't been able to find
any definitive list of allowable keywords) I thought that simply allowing folks
to put

DISC 1
DISCC 3

to indicate (disc 1 or a 3 disc album) into the top "album" portion of
cuesheets would be an easy way to add support for this for flac files and
cuesheets. Not everybody tags their flacs with vorbis comments. I don't,
anyway, other than to stuff the whole cuesheet into a vorbis comment. If you
want to stick with the DISCNUMBER tag I suppose I'll be able to cope. What
what will the equivalent of DISCC be then? I was under the impression that
DISC and DISCC were both necessary to get Slimserver to recognize files as
belonging to multi-disc albums. But then again, is Slimserver using the ID3v2
tag TPOS (part of a set) as an equivalent to DISC?

Sorry, that should have been "(disc 1 OF a 3 disc album)"

DISCNUMBER should be all that you need with 6.2
It will compare numbers for same album names and come up with the equivalent of
DISCC

Does SlimServer detect any disk number statement in cue sheets?
I have a 3-disk album, which is defined by three cue sheets. The first one
looks like this:

PERFORMER "Various Artists"
TITLE "Chilled Ibiza Gold"
DISCNUMBER 1
FILE "Chilled Ibiza Gold CD1.mp3" MP3
  TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Slip Into Something More Comfortable"
    PERFORMER "Kinobe"
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
  TRACK 02 AUDIO
    TITLE "Misti Blue"
    PERFORMER "Amillionsons"
    INDEX 01 04:00:44
etc...

I've tried changing the DISCNUMBER tag to DISC, and I've tried moving it to be
within each TRACK statement block (both as DISCNUMBER and DISC), but I can't
get anything to work.

DISC & DISCC work in cue sheets.
