I ran into a problem with the latest version of SlimServer (5.0.1).

When I tried to stream from an URL to the SlimServer, I would get the message
"2004-01-06 22:32:47 Response: 2004-01-06 22:32:47 Invalid response code () from
remote stream http://computer.lewin.nu/transcode/p3.mp3"

I tracked the problem down to a timeout being to short: on line 64 of
Slim/Web/RemoteStream.pm, the value "2" as the second argument to sysreadline
was too short - it worked for me when I increased it to 10 (seconds).

I would propose that the correct fix is to use the "Radio Station Timeout" value
from the Networking section of the SlimServer advanced settings.

Fixed checked in on 4/1/04 - you can now control the timeouts via the remote
timeout preference.

There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006.  I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
