Bugzilla – Bug 12150
Device should not scan wireless networks when wired
Last modified: 2009-10-05 14:35:56 UTC
Currently fab4 scans for wireless networks when looking for a server even though the device is wired and no wireless parameters have been set. I don't think it should do this and it should not log the local wireless networks into the log (which then gets mailed to you when it crashes....)
Changing target to next major milestone (since MPQ & MP have been reached already)
Richard, what is the work here? Maybe: If wired then only turn scanning on when the use selects "Choose Network"? Or more sophisticated? Also, do we want to reduce the log chattiness of wireless scanning?
We need to make sure it only scans at appropriate times. So that should just be on the Choose Player screen, we don't need to scan when looking for music servers. I'm not so worried right now about the never scanning when connected wired. Also you can make the log less chatty, but it's probably worth keeping a count of the network found when scanning. It is still useful to see when we are scanning.
Richard, is this really P1? If so, can Let's discuss about how to implement.
