Description Doug Williams 2009-05-16 07:16:15 UTC
Windows XP MCE sp3
Task Manager shows the squeezecenter.exe running under "System". The scanner.exe (kicked off by the install) seems to run under the named user, though.
The service still shows the named user properly - even after an update. Shutting down the service and restarting it has squeezecenter.exe running under the proper account.

without looking at the task manager, would you see any limitation? Does BMF still work?
Comment 2 Doug Williams 2009-05-18 05:45:02 UTC
I'm not sure what BMF is so I can't answer that specifically. However, since it was running as system it didn't have security access to the drive where the music files were located so nothing played. It wiped the library at some point and it took a while to figure out some of the probable causes.

On a side note I think that there might be some issues with the new control panel and setting and/or remembering the settings for the user/password. I'm not sure about this and I think that you are still working on it so I didn't fully track that one down. I only mention it because it may have been contributing to my issue here in some way (i.e. the actual library wipe).

Oops, sorry: Browse Music Folder

This pretty much answers my question :-(

Can you reliably reproduce this issue?

Ahhh, thanks. I was going crazy trying to guess that one...

After I first noticed it I did a reinstall and checked and it used the system account again. I did NOT uninstall/downgrade first, however, just installed the latest available download again so it wasn't a clean upgrade test. Let me know if you need something more formal/complete.

Doug - as per the forums discussion this is fixed, right? Please re-open if I'm wrong. thanks!
Comment 6 Doug Williams 2009-06-08 17:48:20 UTC
That is correct. After the install, the processes start with the correct user id. I have only tested with a nightly to nightly upgrade, though. I have not done a full regression back to latest 7.3, etc.
Let me know when the install changes have been fully completed and I will be happy to do some full regression testing on standard upgrades and new installs. Windows XP and Vista platforms.
