Description erik.thiessen 2009-05-15 07:02:40 UTC
Environment is a Squeezecenter 7.3.2 on Suse 10.3 connected via Ethernet to the Squeezebox receiver.

The controller is connected via WLAN to a Fritzbox 7040 DSL modem with WLAN builtin WLAN access point.

The WLAN signal is redistributed via a Fritzfon 7150 acting as WDS configured repeater. Both are configured on WLAN channel 10.

Initial setup of Controller worked and found receiver and squeezecenter.

After powercycle on the crontroller the controller could not reestablish connectivity to both elements.

The behaviour is reproducable partly as sometimes the controller at least finds the squeezecenter but never the receiver.

The receiver is always reacheable via the squeezecenter web UI.

Switching off the WDS repeater immediately resolves the issue.

No other WLAN network devices (Notebook, WLAN capable phone) have any issues with the repeater.

As described this bug is a duplicate of 6085, however chances are what you're experiencing may not be a roaming bug but actually an interference issue.

I'd suggest you try your Fritzbox and Fritzfon on two different channels, 1 and 11 would be best since they are furthest from each other.

Roaming is currently not fully supported, we hope to have that feature with the 7.4 release as indicated in bug 6085. However see bug 12062; I was able to get a Controller to roam using a repeater.
