Bugzilla – Bug 12048
Controller show "Please wait" indefinitely when waking up from suspend, if server (wireless network) is not available
Last modified: 2009-06-17 09:37:33 UTC
The firmware is 5577. I turn off my WLAN at night, since it's located near our bed. In the morning when the WLAN is still off, if the controller is woken up, it tries to connect. Since the wifi is off, it obviously can't connect. But the "Please wait" never times out like it used to, it remains in the "Please wait" animation. The only way to retry is to shut down and restart. And then comes the most serious data. After I shut down, I sometimes can't turn it on again. The only thing to do now, is to pull the battery. Really annoying. The weird thing is that this also happens later in the day, when the WLAN has been up for ours, and I try to resume the controller.
So far I'm unable to reproduce with r5577 and a Netgear WNR3500 and WPA2 encryption. I power off my router and let Controller suspend, then wake it. For about 10 seconds Controller displays please wait, but then shows the home screen correctly with red wireless icon. I'll keep trying. In the mean time could you share more details about your network or setup that may have something to do with it?

This is reproducible with r5730 as well.
There should be a time out, then go back to the Select Network menu OR Select Server menu
Fixed in 7.3 r5922, the "Please wait" screen now times out if the wlan is not available. Other fixes around the power management should have resolved the lock up problem.
