Last modified: 2012-02-27 17:18:49 UTC
Created attachment 5214 [details] log file #1 from SBT during tests Last night I tried setting up a SB Touch at a friend's house. Repeatedly the setup process would get stuck with the "Connecting to Squeezebox Touch" anim on the screen. Here are the steps and details I documented... Environment: + 2Wire DSL modem plus Linksys WRT110 + 2-story house - router upstairs, SBT downstairs + SC 7.0 running on a Mac upstairs. + SC 7.4 (26523) running on my Mac downstairs. Attempt #1 * post factory reset * selected English, AMR, WiFi, <SSID>, "enter wireless password" * Connecting/Connected to <SSID> * Connecting to mySqueezebox.com * Connecting to Squeezebox Touch Stayed on spinney anim for 3 mins. I touched screen and the Software Update screen came up immediately. Attempt #2 -- 7:08pm 5/12/09 * post factory reset * selected English, AMR, WiFi, <SSID>, "enter wireless password" * Connecting/Connected to <SSID> * Connecting to mySqueezebox.com ERROR: It appears your internet connection is not working. * checked Diagnostics ... SNR = 3-8 Player then went to "Connecting to Squeezebox Touch" on its own, and stayed there indefinitely. Again I touched the screen and it came up with an error... ERROR: There is a problem connecting to mySqueezebox.com Attempt #3 -- 7:14pm 5/12/09 + moved closer to router * post factory reset * selected English, AMR, WiFi, <SSID>, "enter wireless password" * connecting/connected to <SSID> * Connecting to Squeezebox Touch Stayed on spinney anim for 5 mins. I touched screen and the Software Update screen came up immediately. * checked Diagnostics ... SNR = 12-17 * Proceeded with software update to r5700. After update and restart, it stayed on spinney anim for 3 mins. I touched screen and the Software Update screen came up immediately. This made no sense.

Dan: once you touched the screen, could you update then? i.e. can you get it to work by touching the screen and then continuing?
The short answer is: Yes, I was able to update the firmware. The long answer is: while yes I was able to update the firmware, the player got into a very funky state where after it rebooted it offered me the firmware update again. I pulled the power at that point and replugged it in, at which point it booted and offered me the "Select Language" screen. I went through setup for the second time and ended up on a Home screen where the first item listed was "Return to Setup". Weird!
James to reproduce, right James?
I have not been able to repo the exact issue yet, but I am still working on it.
Appears to be fine with r5818
