Description Michael Kraft 2009-05-08 12:02:43 UTC
Per engineering via Julius, the default channel chosen for communication between the SBC and SBR when configured in bridge mode is channel 6.
That channel is the one used by all major wireless router manufacturers by default and very few people go through the trouble of changing it.
That of course makes for a rather congested frequency.
I am not sure how much data has been collected, but my duet has a better connection strength at the higher channels, but could also be environmental.

At any rate, I propose a change in the default channel on setup to get out of that congested frequency range.

I suppose ideally, the devices could be programmed to scan for the clearest channel open, but would probably be easier to implement a static channel.

Thoughts or ides?

OR, an option to pick what channel to use after setup is done?

Either via SBC or SqueezeCenter/SqueezeNetwork

We'll see how this gets some votes and revisit it as the features come together for the next release.
