Description Weldon Matt 2009-05-06 10:00:45 UTC
Today, when the fab4 screen is in "remote" mode (larger text etc) and I touch the screen, it takes a good 2-3 seconds for the screen to being the transition to the "touch" view. This is fairly frustrating and the delay is long enough that it "feels" like a bug. The same delay occurs when I transition from touch to remote.

The goal should be for the transition to occur as immediately as possible.

Tom, sounds like you've worked on this, please resolve/close if/when you think it's done.
Comment 2 Wadzinski Tom 2009-05-21 08:23:34 UTC
Transition speed is fixed in r5817.

However, each skin takes time (2 seconds) to load the first time (after that most everything in them is now cached, so second load is fast). This means the first switch to the remote skin will be slow then everything else is fast.

Matt, if that is acceptable please mark the bug as resolved. We could load them both at startup time, but that would add an extra two seconds to the fab4 power on time.

my two cents: I would much rather add 2 seconds to boot time then have the first skin transition be 2 seconds long.
Comment 4 Weldon Matt 2009-05-21 10:43:42 UTC
I see the argument with the initial 2-second delay, but I also hesitate to add to our boot time. This is a pretty darn good fix, all things considered, I'll consider it resolved for now...

This problem seems to be back in r8445 :(
Comment 6 Ben Klaas 2010-02-03 17:13:52 UTC
What do you mean back? Is there some reference to a firmware where this wasn't the behavior?

Please read comments 2-4
Comment 7 Chris Owens 2010-02-04 10:13:56 UTC
Ah I misread the comments. I will review the behavior again and judge whether this is really okay.
Comment 8 Chris Owens 2010-02-18 10:23:17 UTC
Chris to verify

This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release.
