Description Mickey Gee 2009-05-04 11:34:05 UTC
The power management options are currently in the Factory Test menu. It's not obvious to the casual user that it's located there. Suggest that:

1. Power management be moved to a more logical menu
2. The power management menu be reviewed for usability and usefulness.

Here's more suggestions from this forums thread:

" ...For example, we could have slider bars that described the user, his priorities and requirements, to cover matters like how often the Controller is cradled (helping types like me who have it cradled for over 20 hours a day), how often it is normally used while listening (i.e. do you choose each track with the Controller, or put long albums or playlists and just look at it occasionally), what backups do you have (i.e. do you have an alternative control mechanism that is fine for backup, so could accept battery run outs, or is the Controller the only way you can control your music, so you need it to have battery life), and so on.

Obviously an 'Advanced' system would give finer control to those users that need it; this would document what sleep and suspend do and what might be sensible setting for users.

This kind of system would give the power users the control while providing the range of normal users with what they need. I think it's important not to make too many assumptions about how people listen, as we're all different there!"
