did a little write test on fab4 media, writing a 1MB file (from /dev/urandom) to the overlay file system, sd card, usb hard drive and usb flash stick.

without sync, writing to any of the media was between 1.5 and 1.8 seconds

with sync turned on with the USB hd it's under 4 seconds.

with sync turned on the usb flash stick, it's about 16 seconds.

with sync turned on, the SD card is about 250 seconds

something's not right.

Wow, those kingston 1gb sd cards suck.

retested with a transcend sdhc class 6 4gb drive and with sync it was 5.85 seconds.
