Bugzilla – Bug 11821
Firmware Update Message Unclear
Last modified: 2010-05-06 15:47:14 UTC
When going through firmware updates, its very unclear to the user if the Controller or the Receiver is being updated. They both appear to be referenced as "Squeezebox" in the UI. I think its trying to pull the name assigned to it by the user, but obviously the defaults seem to be "Squeezebox"
Dean, who should this be assigned to
We'll need this updated: SLIMBROWSER_UPDATING_FIRMWARE_SQUEEZEBOX EN Updating Squeezebox firmware to be customized per player type: SLIMBROWSER_UPDATING_FIRMWARE_RECEIVER EN Updating Squeezebox Receiver Is this feasible, Richard?
Matt, this is a string change for Duet. I'm not sure if we have time to get this in right now, I'll leave the decision on how important this is for the next release to you. Ben probably can make the change if needed.
If I'm manually attempting a software update (via settings -> advanced), it makes sense to have a submenu under "software update" with [controller name] and [receiver name] as the two options to choose from. If I'm being prompted, it might be nice to see a message like 'a software update is available for your receiver, "[receiver name]."' AND/OR 'a software update is available for your controller, "[controller name]."'
Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the original product.
