Bugzilla – Bug 1175
WEP and WPA don't work for some APs
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:14:30 UTC
Rico found problems on: Linksys WRT55AG - 64bit/128bit (works for WRT54G ) SMC2804WBR - 64bit/128bit WEP and WPA Personal Belkin F5D6231-4 - 128bit WEP only Netgear MR814 - 64bit/128bit (works for Netgear MR814v2)
On investigation, I have the following updates: 1) Linksys WRT55AG - had to set the WEP encryption mode specifically to Shared Key. The default of Auto didn't work - I assume it's somehow choosing Open. 2) Belkin F5D6231-4 - I managed to get both 64-bit and 128-bit working. I'm guessing that the issue originally reported is a result of script errors in Firefox on the encryption page which may have caused the changes not to take. I also found that a manual restart may be necessary to change encryption parameters. 3) Netgear MR814 - This is the original MR814 - much larger than later versions. I wasn't able to connect at all to this, but neither was my Powerbook. I'm wondering if the unit we have is fried.
Wireless compatibility will be an ongoing effort. Moving to 6.0.1 as we continue to test and validate. Look for a compatibility matrix on the Wiki soon.
BEFW11S4 v2 - 64bit and 128bit wep do not work. vidur is looking at this.
WEP still not working for the SMC2804WBR.
WPA is working for the SMC now, though.
