It is natural to want to plug headphones into a bedside boom.  The trouble is that you have to take action to switch from headphones to speakers to make sure you hear your alarm in the morning (because your headphones are going to fall out/fall off while you sleep).

Since the headphone output is already software controlled, a new option should be added to the alarms to force the alarm sound to come out of the speakers regardless of whether the headphones are plugged in.

I'll triple-check it tonight, but I know I had that problem once and kept meaning to look into it, then saw someone on the forum post that problem today which reminded me of it.
