Description Jim McAtee 2009-04-05 11:02:22 UTC
This color does NOT work for the dots in checkboxes and radio buttons. They're all but invisible. Find another place to introduce some color into the interface.

Dean,

Have you had a chance to see this on screen? I have reworked the color as much as I can. Utility would suggest using a simple black fill color for checkboxes and radiobuttons. The website and larger UI's can support the teal accent, however, perhaps not in our case.

I haven't. Will review soon.
Comment 3 Blackketter Dean 2009-04-05 20:57:13 UTC
The problem is that the teal reads as white, so I'd try a thin white outline and dark/clear fill for the off state and teal fill for on.

My two cents is that this is a no brainer. These should be black.

Dean - are you suggesting making the bkgrd dark with a white pencil edge? Not sure what you are proposing?
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2009-04-06 17:00:10 UTC
the problem is that the off state (white) and the on state (teal) are too close.

also, if you look at the radio buttons on a lighter background, it's not clear what the solid light dot means.

i'm proposing that off is indicated by an empty circle (i.e. center is transparent) and a fill (teal or white) indicate on.

radio buttons on windows and mac are white inside based on the assumption that the background is white, which is definitely not the case with our default background.

Comment 10 Jim McAtee 2009-04-07 13:43:45 UTC
That might work. Trades the 3d effect for 2d with a splotch of green.
Comment 11 Blackketter Dean 2009-04-07 17:32:19 UTC
Much better.

I'd suggest making the dark center a bit more transparent. It does look a bit spotty on the lighter screen.

Again, this all has to work with light backgrounds.

Transparency revised from 70% to 50%. Assets updated to .svn.
