Description Mickey Gee 2009-04-04 21:05:17 UTC
Now that I'm running firmware 7.3 r5149, I can look at the Diagnostics screen and monitor the "Memory used" field. If I let the Controller sit in its cradle for 24 hours and without being connected to any player, the percent of memory used will increase over time.

I started it with 25% memory used, and after 24 hours of inactivity and now screen saver it's at 40% used.

Here's what else the screen says:

Wireless encryption: WEP
Wireless signal: 20SNR
IP Address: 192.168.1.149
DNS Server: 192.168.1.1
SqueezeNetwork: 66.151.159.227
Ping, TCP port 3483, port 9000 for SN OK
SqueezeCenter: 66.151.159.227 (SN for testing = SC)
Ping, port 3483, port 9000 OK

After 44 hours of uptime, memory used field says 60%. It's just being left in the cradle without usage. RIOD, and can no longer ping IP addresses in Comment 1.

Screen always displayed while in cradle.

Richard: Is this a Memory leak? or an artifact of leaving the controller on for too long?

Mickey states that the longer he leaves the jive on, the slower it gets. QA has seen this behavior as well with 7.3.3 r5149

I checked my Jive last night. It had rebooted around noon on Tuesday April 7th. Since I updated the Jive at around Friday April 3 9 pm, it was up for 87 hours, or around 3.75 days before rebooting.

Sorry, no log. I'll work on getting one.

Unable to reproduce for a couple of months since I first saw it. User on the forums says he's seen it:

Hi Mickey

When i put the controller in the cradle, i press turn off and then sleep.
The controller isn't really sleeping (suspending) but the display turns off.

Is there a sleep mode available while sitting in the cradle?

When i pick up the controller, display turns on and the last (turn off) screen appears and the wireless icon is blue for max. 10 seconds. Then it's getting white and the connection works.

When i'm listening to music, the controller isn't in the cradle and most of the time I listen to radio stations through squeezenetwork. Sometimes i'm connecting the controller/squeezeboxes to my local squeezecenter, but when i put the controller back to the cradle, it is always connected to squeezenetwork and squeezecenter is turned off.

I rarely use the controller as a player. Most of the time, i use the squeezeboxes!

Memory consumption is getting more and more while listen to music or battery loading.

I know it's hard to reproduce that, but something seems to be strange with memory consumption of the controller.

Thanks for the investigation of that problem and let me know if you need more details.

Cheers
Marc

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the original product.

Reset priority before triage.
Comment 9 Ben Klaas 2009-08-26 07:50:05 UTC
this is an administrative shuffle on priority fields to help make better judgment on the top end of the priority list. P4->P5, P3->P4, and P2->P3.

Richard: With the new Diagnostic setup, Mem Stat has been removed. Should this be added back in for all devices? Was it useful information or just miss-leading data?
Comment 11 Richard Titmuss 2009-09-08 04:48:19 UTC
Memory stat has been added in to the 7.4 firmware for all devices. Changing this to works for me, please reopen if it can be recreated.
