server log with network.protocol.slimproto=Info and player.source=Info

Songs were playing then heard no more music.
More songs are listed in web ui playlist.
Web UI shows song is playing but looping the same 3 - 4 seconds over and over.

another instance of the same bug? or just some other bug with the same symptoms?

no sound - web ui displays as playing the same 7 seconds over and over (in the middle of the song)

clicking play on the song in the playlist gets it working again.

another instance of the same bug? or some other bug with the same
symptoms?

potentially irrelevant note - I create a new playlist each morning - the problem does not occur while the playlist is being modified
Comment 5 James Richardson 2009-04-06 09:45:24 UTC
Possibly related to bug 10680
Comment 6 Alan Young 2009-04-06 10:22:39 UTC
Sean, for each of these logs, can you say what was not playing but was being displayed as plaing, and at what time. It is very difficult to look through logs like this, helpful though they are, without some specific clues of where to focus on.
Comment 7 Sean Echevarria 2009-04-06 10:47:04 UTC
No, not able to recall what the web ui had displayed for any of these occurrences (other than a play position that repeated itself, sometimes at beginning, sometimes at end and sometimes in middle). Next time it happens I'll note the song and position displayed in the web ui. (I'll be out of town for the next week though) As far as time, often I don't notice it when it happens - I come back into the room and wonder if I walked in between tracks or not - so will only be able to record the time that I noticed.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 10692 ***
Comment 9 Alan Young 2009-04-06 10:59:18 UTC
All three logs show the same symptoms. It looks like the player has problems with the file in question, which was different each time. Do those specific files (for example, Elvis Costello, Alison) usually play ok?
Comment 10 Sean Echevarria 2009-04-06 11:00:34 UTC
Yes they play fine if I hit play again.
Comment 11 Sean Echevarria 2009-04-06 11:06:03 UTC
Confirmed - just listened to Alison from start to end. When it got to the end, UI position changed to 0:00/-3:22 and is no longer updating.

server.log for alison.log

Here's the log for playback of Alison reported in previous message. I had a playlist with Joy Division playing. Cleared playlist, added Alison. Disabled playlist repeat. Listened to end.

server.log with alison and watching the detectives

server.log for these actions:
had alison in playlist - stopped
added track that follows alison on the album - watching the detectives
started play of alison
log has play of alison and watching the detectives

no problem with playback - this test was to check for clean transition from Alison to Watching the Detectives
Comment 14 Sean Echevarria 2009-04-06 11:23:27 UTC
other notes: shuffle is always disabled. Playlist repeat is always enabled (except for previous two tests). Playlists usually consist of multiple whole albums.
Comment 15 Sean Echevarria 2009-04-06 11:32:56 UTC
Alison was compressed using libFLAC 1.2.1 20070917

Checking my rip log (from Exact Audio Copy), the flac command line options were:
-7 -V -T "ARTIST=%a" -T "TITLE=%t" -T "ALBUM=%g" -T "DATE=%y" -T "TRACKNUMBER=%n" -T "GENRE=%m" %s -o %d

another log same server settings

No sound. Web ui shows that "Drops, Rain and Sea" is playing (from album Idylls). Position goes from 2:08/-1:45 up to 2:13/-1:40 then wraps back around to 2:08/-1:45 and repeats. Occasionally gets as high as 2:16/-1:37 before skipping back to 2:08/-1:45.

log of click in position bar

clicking in the position bar at around 2:16 gets it audible again with no repeat.
attached log file has some overlap with the previous one. Line 489 shows the jumpToTime call. Song continued to play fine after I got it started again. Transition to next song was clean and is still playing right now.
