Bugzilla – Bug 11544
Now Playing (Sirius Radio) displays Stream stopped message in error
Last modified: 2011-08-02 10:47:05 UTC
When a Sirius channel stops, the message "Stream stopped, you are no longer authorized to listen." is displayed. The stream can be restarted by pressing "play" on the remote, but the error message is never cleared in the Now Playing display.
Workaround, Andy thinks that navigating back to 'Now Playing' should clear the message. Probably the message should include text indicating that pressing 'play' can get the music playing again. The message should be fixed to go away after hitting 'play'.
Navigating back to now playing does not clear the message. You can get the stream going again by pressing play, but the message is not cleared unless you retune the station.
I'm another Squeezebox Duet/Boom owner with this problem playing Sirius. I thought the problem was with Sirius but your support team referred to me to here so I'll join the CC list and watch for developments...thanks, John

Andy, Has anything been determined about what is required to fix this bug? I'm curious if you've figured out what is causing this...thanks, John
Moving 7.4 bugs to 8.0.

I had hoped this would be addressed in 7.4. This is the sort of problem you might expect from software that is "not ready for prime time". There are two issues here: a) The fact that the stream stops in the first place and that the system doesn't restart it. This doesn't happen when I'm driving around in my car listening to the same music. When I drive through a tunnel or through a canyon that interrupts the signal, it's restarted automatically. b) The annoying way that the error displays "you are not allowed..." even when music is playing. Yes I can get rid of this by tuning another station and then tuning the original one again, but after a few times I give up do something else with my time. I beg you to spend less time tinkering with the GUI and more time making the software solid.
I see the "Stream stopped, you are no longer authorized to listen" error using SBS 7.5.4 on Fedora 14, playing through a Duet Receiver with firmware 68. Sirius plays for an hour or two, then suddenly stops and this error message is displayed in the SBS web interface and on the Duet Controller. Pressing the Play button on the Controller causes playback to resume.
Squeebox Radio (hardware version 5) When playing Sirius channel this message occurs repeatedly "Stream stopped you are no longer authorized to listen" and then music stops. This happens regardless if the firmware used is version 7.5.4 or version 7.6.0. Pressing the play button or going back to home screen only stops it from happening temporarily. It continually does this. Sirius channels useless. Please fix this bug!!!!!

If you are using SqueezeBox Server (and not connecting directly to mysqueezebox.com), you can stop these messages by using this workaround: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=637411&postcount=174 Logitech has decided that this bug won't be fixed: https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17157 If Logitech refuses to fix the problem, you can fix it yourself.
