Bugzilla – Bug 11533
Cannot seek songs by holding down the forward button
Last modified: 2010-05-06 15:47:23 UTC
Reproducible using the Duet system with s/w 7.3.1 Seeking through songs is overly cumbersome using the Duet controller. I'd expect seeking to work by just holding the forward button down until it reached the desired song position. This is a common method on most music and CD players. Holding down the forward button on the controller only shows a song position popup. You then have to release the button and press it again to seek. What happens: 1. Hold down forward button 2. Song position pops up 3. Release and hold down forward button 4. Seeking/Searching through the song commences 5. Release the button at the desired song position What I would expect: 1. Hold down forward button 2. Song position pops up 3. Seeking/Searching through the song commences 4. Release the button at the desired song position Thanks in advance.
Please upgrade to SC 7.3.3 What Format is the music in that you are trying to 'seek' in? not all formats are supported.
You are right. It is awkward. What you propose was the original intent but certainly technical interactions in the underlying event and key-press handling mechanisms made it impractical to achieve. Upgrading to 7.3.3 will not help. Note that, once you get the pop-up, you can also use the scroll wheel. Given that this works as designed, I am marking this as an enhancement request. Actually, in the next major release, the event mechanism has been completely changed. It may be that this now makes it possible to get what you want, although not yet. Tom, any thoughts?
jrichardson - The track format was MP3. As an alternative would it be possible to enable the scroll wheel to search/seek through the track without first holding down the forward key to pop up the song position window? That would be a even better solution in my opinion.
Tom, can you comment on this please? Alan.
