Right now it's darker, and when on a lighter colored wallpaper, it's too dark. The same density should apply to the keyboard as the title bar.

There is a fine line between too dark as you state and not legible for lighter, more detailed backgrounds.  In this instance the keyboard is dark for a reason: to provide max. legibility.  

Without the ability to control the wallpaper my 2cents are to keep it as is. Playing devils advocate, I can see the same bug being filed in reverse for someone who cannot read the keys because it is too transparent.

If it's not readable on the keyboard, then it won't be readable on the title bar.
