Description James Craig 2005-03-20 02:26:22 UTC
Playlist loaded from iTunes.
In 'Browse Playlists' & 'the current playlist' (default skin) I see:
Better Change Your Mind from World Psychedelic Classics, Vol. 3: Love’s a
Real Thing by William Onyeabor
How Say from Pip Paine (Pay Back The £5000 You Owe) by Metronomy

Click through to the songs and the characters are correct:
Album: World Psychedelic Classics, Vol. 3: Loves a Real Thing
Album: Pip Paine (Pay Back The 5000 You Owe)

In Fishbone 'browse playlists' is correct but 'current playlist' is wrong.

On Softsqueeze the 1st track is wrong - ? instead of ' - but the 2nd is correct.

James, is this an .m3u/.pls file or is it a playlist imported directly from iTunes?

I believe there is an issue with both reading and writing playlists related to
the encoding. We currently write out in the locale encoding and assume playlists
we read in are in the same encoding. This could be a bad assumption for reading
in existing playlists (should we assume Latin1?). When we write out, Dan
suggests we should use the File::BOM package to write out in utf-8.

Could be related to bug 1139.
Comment 3 James Craig 2005-03-24 01:08:08 UTC
Imported direct from iTunes.
I don't appear to be having any problems in playback.
All my location settings are basic English/UK.
