Description Chris Owens 2009-03-06 12:07:18 UTC
Junien states that we should ask for the wireless region at the same time as the language. Currently this is done later to determine what channels on which we are allowed to communicate.
Comment 1 Jim McAtee 2009-03-17 12:30:29 UTC
Is the choice of a region necessary for anything other than wireless network setup? Shouldn't you only have to choose a region _after_ you've selected wireless as your connection type?
Comment 2 Ben Klaas 2009-03-17 12:48:08 UTC
I agree it doesn't make sense, but "Junien states" = "you will do this"

this is the order it's going to be
Comment 3 Jim McAtee 2009-03-17 13:18:18 UTC
What's a "Junien states"?
Comment 4 Chris Owens 2009-03-17 13:56:44 UTC
Well, since the acquisition by Logitech, Robin is Dean's boss, and Junien is Robin's boss. It's Junien's position that there is less cognitive dissonance for users to input their language and region on contiguous screens than to input their language, then some info about their network, and then some info about their region.

Dean notes that we should be able to detect if ethernet is connected, and skip this screen if so, for added customer delight.

Fixed already.
Comment 6 Peter Watkins 2009-03-31 21:11:46 UTC
But they're NOT asked at the same time. Language is asked first; both region and wired/wireless are asked later.
Comment 7 Ben Klaas 2009-04-01 07:50:27 UTC
it's a misstatement.

setup is in the correct order in relation to this bug. And by "correct", I mean "as specified".

1. Language first (obviously)
2. "Let's get started" window
3. Region
4. Wired/Wireless

Yep. There's one of those "let's do nothing but make the user press next" screens in between the selection of language and region.
