Description Anoop Mehta 2009-03-03 16:23:48 UTC
Fab4 should have an error message when it is setup via Eternet and the Ethernet cable is disconnected.

Possible error message = "Ethernet Appears to be disconnected, Please check to make sure your Ethernet cable is plugged in"

Already fixed.

Hello All,

This is in regards to the FAB4 fw 5265

I have just run the following test on the FAB4, and I did not receive any type of message that the Ethernet Cable was unplugged.

-Factory reset the FAB4

-Connected via Ethernet

-Went through the setup, connected to SC 7.4

-Started playing a random song mix (of MP3's WAV and WMA files)

-While playing the random mix, I unplugged the Ethernet cable

-The song kept playing (of course, in the buffer)

-After the song was over the song counter just kept going, but there was no music playing, and there was no message stating that the Ethernet cable was unplugged, or even that the connection was lost. However, when I did hit any button on the FAB4 remote, it went through the "Connecting to" process, and when it did fail, it stated that there was a problem connecting.

I also unplugged the Ethernet cable at the stage in setup where it asks if you have a Squeezenetwork account. It let me enter my email address, but then it couldn't connect, and did give me a problem connecting error. I feel that maybe it should be like the Squeezebox Boom, which lets you know to actually check the Ethernet Cable.

Reopening Bug

Thanks,

LaRon

I think this is reasonable. We need a notification in the users face when the link goes down and they try to do something.

I don't think it's necessary for MP, though.
