I recently purchased my Boom and tried to configure it to display like the one advertised on the box and the website. I quickly learned that this could only be done while running SqueezeCenter and a third party plugin (MusicInfo SCR). I do not wish to run SC because I do not want to keep my PC on all the time. I wish to mainly use Pandora and MP3Tunes Locker. While searching around the web and these forums I discovered that I was not the only one that would like to be able to have more customization with the display just through the Boom's UI or SN. The current options are not sufficient as there is wasted space and needless banners, such as "Now Playing". It does sound like most would be happy with being able to make it look like the marketed picture. BTW, this is my only gripe about a product which I have otherwise fallen in love with!
