Description Chris Siebert 2009-02-14 13:12:39 UTC
Hi guys!

Currently it is required to have a host running with a streaming server in order to have the Squeezebox to receive audio.
Since nowayday NAS (Network Attached Storage) becomes more popular and affordable, it would be very nice, if the Squeezebox could connect to the NAS directly for browsing through the files there.
In that case it would NOT be necessary anymore to have a PC/laptop running just in order to listen to music.
Also with respect to saving energy this would be a tremendous improvement.

I suggest that the following protocols be supported for convenience:
1.) CIFS/SMB/Samba
2.) FTP
3.) NFS

Many thanks in advance for your consideration.

Best regards,
             Chris

Please don't preset targets.

All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform.
We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or
which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.
