Description Craig Garnett 2005-03-15 12:05:44 UTC
If I go to browse albums on the player then hit play to play everything, it
takes about 20 seconds to build the playlist (> 9000 songs) which is ok but
during that time I get a lost contact with server message. This is the way I
often use my player and it doesn't look too good if I'm demonstrating it to
someone.

Would it not be possible to add the first few tracks to the list then start
playing, then you can build the rest of the list using a lower priority. That
way playback could start almost instantaneous with no loss of contact.

this would seem closely related to bug1040, not quite a dupe, not quite
dependency.

Checked in changes on 3/16 to improve large playlists. Craig, could you grab the
nightly build tomorrow (3/17) and let me know if it's better.

Ok Will do.
Comment 4 Craig Garnett 2005-03-17 11:41:04 UTC
Ok, I've installed 3/17 and it's a big improvement
Previously it took 30 seconds to start playing, with a lost contact message at
around 20 seconds.
Now it takes 15 seconds to start playing with no errors and no occurances of
bug #1102.

The only problem I've seen is if my other player is playing then the scan time
increases to around 20 seconds and sometimes causes a lost contact message.

It's a big improvement though. Thanks
