Bugzilla – Bug 10888
Need clearer unsync ability in the Player-UI
Last modified: 2010-05-10 02:23:15 UTC
I noticed this in SC 7.4. Someone in the forums (see link) saw it in 7.3.2, so I'm setting that as the version. There's no option to unsync a player in the remote interface.
I am unable to verify this with 7.3.2, please provide a log file
Seems I was expecting the same interface changes that were made to the web interface. The option is indeed there, but I'd say it's poorly implemented. If you have your font size set to large, you never see the small "Unsync with" text because it's not even on the screen. All you see is a list of player names. If the font is set to two-line, it appears on the screen in the small text, so you may not be able to see it, or may not notice it. There should simply be a menu item in the larger font that says "No Synchronization", as it's done in the web interface.
No Sync breaks all groups or simply unchecking all items so that player is no longer synced? The UI would also work as a checkbox list, and have the top line always say "Sync With" and all checked players will be synced. The last item "No Sync" would uncheck all. Thus, matching the new web ui.
relies on the UI design set as a result of bug 6806
There is a plan to change the settings configuration framework, and this would be tackled by that plan. But this will not be in time for 7.4.
Time estimate dependent upon implementation of new settings framework.

Still seeing this problem in SbS 7.4 and 7.5. If the font size is set to full (single line) then you can't see the words 'Unsync with'. The only text you see is a list of players in the current sync group. Can the text for this menu item just be changed to 'No Sync' or 'No Synchronization'?
All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform. We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products. In the case of this feature, a community contribution would be considered.
