Description Ben Calvin 2009-01-28 14:17:55 UTC
People randomly get "banned for abuse" errors and the usual solution is deleting the player and performing a factory reset. Problem has been present since r3191.

Nothing I can do about the problem, report it to Slacker. Deleting a player or performing a factory reset won't solve the problem. A Slacker account gets flagged for abuse for unknown reasons I am not aware of. Possibly one way to solve it is to have the user login to their Slacker account at slacker.com.

Aren't you guys partnered with Slacker in some manner?

Is it not possible that it's something that the Squeezebox or server or SN is doing to trigger these bans? I know that when I use Slacker I regularly get a message about another device being logged in and then SB can't connect to Slacker. Retrying generally fixes it. I also regularly have the stream just cut off in mid-track if the SB has been connected for more than 30 minutes or so.

Slacker limits you to 1 stream per account. If you so much as browse from another device you will get bumped. Getting banned for abuse is not the same thing. And no, we're not causing it or a lot more people would be having the problem.

The user can login to the website and play, but the squeezebox can't because of the banned for abuse error. I'll look into that next time, the logged into both or other factors.

Thank you Andy
