Description Ben Calvin 2009-01-28 14:15:21 UTC
Before 7.3, people were able to disconnect the squeezebox receiver and still have a normal menu, the menu doesn't evolve into something else.

After 7.3, people disconnect the receiver, the home menu changes completely. There are random items added to this screen.

Normal menu would show the normal items like music library, internet radio, ect. Before 7.3, when a player was disconnected, all you would see is settings and choose player. This is no longer the case.

The 'sometimes' solution to the problem is going to settings -> home menu -> restore defaults. Most of the time that doesn't work either.

Ben: were you connected to SN or SC at the time of this error?

What firmware version do you have on the controller?
Comment 2 Ben Calvin 2009-02-07 10:08:44 UTC
It could be r3191 or r3476 , either version had the same thing. I don't know if this was an intention menu change or an actual problem. When customer's were disconnected from the receiver or the network, the menu changes to something odd. Some customer's even have menu item's that don't belong.

Some customers were usually connected squeezecenter.

Correction, connected to squeezecenter. I'll have to see if the new version still has this problem.

Ben and Richard note that if you lose connection you get a not-very-useful menu when you ought to get a friendly screen describing in more detail what happened and what to do.
Comment 5 James Richardson 2009-02-09 09:24:35 UTC
Also note, behavior needs to be the same when connected to SN and SC
Comment 6 Ben Calvin 2009-02-25 17:39:00 UTC
alright, i finally figured out why the "choose player" disappears. I guess before the duet controller would have that option no matter what happened to the receiver.

If the receiver isn't being detected on a network, that option will disappear. To fix, factory reset receiver, power cycle controller, option reappears, select squeezenetwork or squeezecenter.

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.

This problem only applies to the duet controller. Its a problem that will never be fixed. The controller forgets the receiver is there or the controller does something strange and you must do a factory reset to fix the problem. Squeezeplay has nothing to do with this problem

Matt-- Perhaps this bug needs clarifying to identify what can be improved, but I don't think it's a "WONTFIX". Can you explain?

Apologies, misread. The above solution is probably the best. Targeting for 8.0

Exactly. That is probably the biggest grips from customers. They don't know what to do after the controller has lost connection with the wireless network.
