Bugzilla – Bug 10834
FAB4 always connects to SN on startup
Last modified: 2009-09-08 09:26:56 UTC
OK, title says some of it. I am having a lot of issues to even get FAB4 to connect to itself, controlling OTHER players works fine. I updated to 3905 and I'm seeing all this again. When I do a factory reset, I have a settings menu including Screen Savers! I am also able to see fab4 under "Choose Player", I cannot select it, though (I get "PIN: function(<some hex code>)". With a note to log into SN.). As soon as I go through "Setup (Developer)" my Screen Savers go away and FAB4 disappears from the "Choose Player" menu. The other players connected to the same server are still there! I then found out that I first have to select the server (even though I appear to be already connected to it), then the player and then the server again (I have several servers here, only one is 7.4). Could this have something to do with authentication? I use authentication on all of my servers and I know from recent experience that the cometd implementation does not support authentication challenges, does maybe the subscription for "status" get lost when reconnecting the stream? Yet I DID try to disable authentication on my 7.4 server and then I was not able to connect to the server at all with FAB4 (although that seems to happen both ways from time to time).
OK, more info and a change in title to make it more appropriate. The issue seems to be that FAB4 automatically connects to Sn on startup, even though it was not connected to SN when powering it down. I can see it on SN BUT - it does see the other players connected to the server it was on before powering it down. If I wait long enough before doing ANYTHING (~3-4 min), I am sometimes able to connect to the correct server, in all other cases I have to do a factory reset. FAB4 does not actually work on SN. In no case do I get a NowPlaying menu or screen savers after "connecting" to the correct server, but selecting songs and playback work.
With FW 4087 the factory reset doesn't work anymore as well. I get the "Player PIN: 0x...." messsage right after I connect to a network.

OK, it looks like it tries to connect to the wrong server on my network, probably the first one it finds (see "messages1" log file). But I still see the same issue when I shut that server down, now it uses the correct one but still connects to SN ("messages2")
Can you please run login via ssh and run the following commands, then post the output: cat /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/Playback.lua cat /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/ChooseMusicSource.lua cat /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/SlimDiscovery.lua ifconfig cat /proc/cpuinfo Thanks.
OK, here we go: cat /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/Playback.lua settings = {enableAudio=1,alsaPlaybackPeriodCount=3,alsaEffectsPeriodCount=3,alsaPlaybackBufferTime=30000,playerInit={name="MyOtherSqueezy",model="function: 0x8236f8",},alsaPlaybackDevice="default",alsaEffectsBufferTime=30000,serverName="SqueezeNetwork",alsaEffectsDevice="plughw:2,0",serverInit={ip="www.squeezenetwork.com",},} cat /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/ChooseMusicSource.lua settings = {poll={["255.255.255.255"]="255.255.255.255",},} cat /etc/squeezeplay/userpath/settings/SlimDiscovery.lua settings = {playerId="00:04:20:22:00:34",currentPlayer="00:04:20:22:00:34",serverInit={mac="00:40:63:F3:92:7B",ip="192.168.0.12",},squeezeNetwork=false,playerInit={name="MyOtherSqueezy",model="function: 0x8236f8",},serverName="PenguinServer",} ifconfig lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:130 (130.0 B) TX bytes:130 (130.0 B) wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:20:22:00:34 inet addr:192.168.0.42 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:99211 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:57949 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:124629978 (118.8 MiB) TX bytes:4559074 (4.3 MiB) cat /proc/cpuinfo Processor : ARMv6-compatible processor rev 3 (v6l) BogoMIPS : 398.13 Features : swp half thumb fastmult vfp edsp java CPU implementer : 0x41 CPU architecture: 6TEJ CPU variant : 0x1 CPU part : 0xb36 CPU revision : 3 Cache type : write-back Cache clean : cp15 c7 ops Cache lockdown : format C Cache format : Harvard I size : 16384 I assoc : 4 I line length : 32 I sets : 128 D size : 16384 D assoc : 4 D line length : 32 D sets : 128 Hardware : Logitech Fab4 Board Revision : 0003 Serial : 0512080005220034 UUID : 60582faa-48c5-333c-f9c6-39f71efce549 Anything else? I'll be away from my FAB4 for about two days soon
This is still an issue with r4875.
Probably fixed in r4901. After a factory reset fab4 will connect to SN, but after you have selected your SC from the My Music menu it should connect to SC on the next reboot. Once this firmware is available do a factory reset and retest. Please reopen this bug if you see the problem again.
