Bugzilla – Bug 10797
Debian package should include SoX as a dependency
Last modified: 2009-04-14 07:47:12 UTC
It would be nice if the sox program was included as an external dependency: Depends: sox, libsox-fmt-all That would reduce the size of the package on the slimdevices server. It would reduce download overhead for each squeezecenter upgrade since sox would already be installed. I have not looked into which formats in sox are necessary to make squeezecenter to work, but I did a quick comparison with my SoX 14.0 version (Ubuntu 8.10) Included in squeezecenter version, missing in Ubuntu version: amb cvu f4 f8 htk sndr sox wv Missing from squeezecenter version, included in Ubuntu version: ao auto avi caf fap ffmpeg m4a mat mat4 mat5 mp4 mpg paf pvf sd2 sds w64 wmv xi If there is a hard requirement for formats only supported in 14.2 a version dependency would need to be added. This would also help with squeezecenter non-intel platform support.
Our sox package is custom built and Andy has modified the packaging now to include that on Debian systems. This ticket no longer applies since we include sox. Closing.
