Description James Richardson 2009-01-19 07:36:45 UTC
Installing (updating) SqueezeCenter-7.3.2-24695.dmg on top of SqueezeCenter-7.3.2-24679.dmg will produce the attached screen shot.

Before installing, the following logging options were set to debug;
(plugin.extensions) - Extension Downloader
 (prefs) - Preference Setting & Saving

Reseting the logging options did not resolve the issue;

removing r24695
install r24679
upgrade to r24695
Same results

The log output in the final success message is easily reproducible when logging options are saved to be used at next startup.

This issue very likely has been there for a long time: the installer is launching an external script to do some configuration work. That script will return a success or failure message which is caught by the installer. Obviously the installer will catch any other message logged by SC. We probably should not rely on the text being what we want, but use some keyword to trigger the corrct message.

Just saw this now. Screenshot of crazy long text box that opens on updating SqueezeCenter.

change 24736 - send logging output to /dev/null when starting SC on OSX as a daemon. stdout is used to display the installer script's output.
