Test Wave file from 081220-000142

Ticket #081220-000142

Environment:
Windows XP SP3
SqueezeCenter 7.3.1
Windows Media Player 11.0.5721.5230
Music on local drive

Symptom:

When trying to scan music library with large WAV files, Scanner.exe errors, and then SqueezeCenter stops running.

When I remove this file from the directory, SqueezeCenter scans fine. I have tested it with one file.

I was able to recreate this issue here.

Steps to recreate issue:

-Download file from:
http://www.transferbigfiles.com/Get.aspx?id=52de2518-ed33-402b-b63a-371c8b6f6c96 (http://www.transferbigfiles.com/Get.aspx?id=52de2518-ed33-402b-b63a-371c8b6f6c96)

-Create a new folder and place file inside of folder.

-Clear and rescan library for that folder(or you may scan for new and changed music, error occurs on any scan)

**

Please see my log file. I have also attached a .WAV file for testing.

LaRon: does the same error exist in 7.3.2 or 7.3.3?
Comment 2 Walker LaRon 2009-02-03 16:36:17 UTC
Hello James,

I was able to play the file no problem on my MAC 10.4.11 with SqueezeCenter 7.3.2 and 7.3.3. (clean installs both times)

I tried the same test on Windows XP SP3, and the exact same thing happened with both 7.3.2 and 7.3.3.

I do believe this issue is isolated to Windows. Please see my attached log file.

Thanks,

LaRon

Comment 4 Chris Owens 2009-03-16 09:48:45 UTC
We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future.

Thanks!
Comment 5 Chris Owens 2009-03-30 17:32:04 UTC
Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it.

Thanks.
Comment 6 Chris Owens 2009-03-31 08:54:31 UTC
For some reason Bugzilla did not change the target when I did this yesterday. Or maybe it was me. In either case, I'm trying it again.
Comment 7 tomer.karni 2009-05-13 00:02:12 UTC
Hi,
I walked through all versions, including 7.4b.
Problem still exists.
While some WAVs are recognized, others crash the scanner with no apparent reason.
All WAVs are created from original CDs using the same ripping software.
Thanks
Comment 8 tomer.karni 2009-05-14 13:21:07 UTC
I may be jumping too fast, but seems like the problem is solved in version Version: 7.4 - 265323.
I sure hope so. I do love my WAVs
Comment 9 Spies Steven 2009-07-30 15:50:00 UTC
Marking as test_case and works for me, please reopen and add additional comments if still an issue in 7.4.
Comment 10 James Richardson 2012-02-27 17:33:21 UTC
Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test
with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to
reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
