failure

When attempting to downgrade from SC 7.3.2 to any earlier version will fail. See attached image.

The installer is not stopping squeeze.exe properly

This does not happen on Windows Vista
Comment 1 James Richardson 2009-01-15 10:45:39 UTC
Shuting down SC before installing works
Comment 2 James Richardson 2009-01-15 13:53:45 UTC
I was able to replicate this by installing 7.3.2 OVER a running 7.3.1 server on Vista as well.

Attempting to install 7.3.2 onto a system with a running 7.3.1 server causes the same error.

Steps to reproduce
install 7.3.1
attach a player
start a stream
install 7.3.2
observe error condition
Comment 3 James Richardson 2009-01-15 13:55:02 UTC
Clicking on Retry does not work, as squeeze.exe is still running.

Shuting down SC before installing works.

7.3.1 did not have this problem installing over 7.3
7.3.0 did not have this problem installing over 7.2

Can you reproduce this on any Windows machine? Will it never stop ("Retry" doesn't succeed)? Anything special, like 3rd party firewall, non-standard http port or something? Do you see Squeezetry appear and disappear while it's trying to shut down SC?
Comment 5 Michael Herger 2009-01-15 14:00:53 UTC
BTW: if this is a _downgrade_ only issue, then there will be no fix. We can't fix the installer of an old release. Thus - does upgrading work?

Oops... should have read all messages...
Comment 7 James Richardson 2009-01-15 14:14:49 UTC
I do see squeezetray disapear

nothing special about my Vista install, windows firewall, no virus software

if I wait up to 5 min after the error message appears, then I notice SQ.exe does close and I can 'retry' OK

so it looks like SQ.exe is just taking a long time to shut down

Music Library only has 10 items in it
Comment 8 James Richardson 2009-01-16 13:02:52 UTC
Unable to reproduce this with today's build, 7.3.2 r24679
Comment 9 Chris Owens 2009-07-31 10:33:59 UTC
Reduce number of active targets for SC
