Description Patrick Dixon 2009-01-14 05:37:07 UTC
Version: 7.4 - 24614 @ Mon Jan 12 01:14:31 PST 2009
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux

Controller 7.3 r3476

When Browsing by Artist, VA Albums are listed under the Artist name along with 'normal' albums by that artist. Selecting a VA album then shows only the tracks on the VA album by that Artist, however selecting that track and pressing play plays the whole album starting at track 1 - which may or may not be the track (or by the artist) requested!

This is with the 'Play other songs in album or directory' option selected.

Possible dupe of bug 10760

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 10760 ***
Comment 2 Patrick Dixon 2009-02-05 23:47:27 UTC
This isn't a duplicate of that bug although it may be related.

Bug 10760 relates to the displayed behaviour - this is the playing behaviour.
Comment 3 James Richardson 2009-02-11 06:55:43 UTC
are you playing audio ON the controller?
Comment 4 Patrick Dixon 2009-02-11 07:11:08 UTC
No - playing audio on an SB3, but using a Controller to control it.

However, it's not the displayed behavior on the Controller that's wrong, it's the action that it creates on the SB3.
Comment 5 James Richardson 2009-02-11 07:15:41 UTC
dupe of 10410 then?
Comment 6 Patrick Dixon 2009-02-11 07:36:41 UTC
No I don't think so - this is specific to VA behaviour, and it's only the 'wrong' tracks in the VA album that get played.

10410 talks about tracks in other unrelated albums being played.

This one is also very easily and consistently reproducible :-)

Can you disable 'play other songs...' and tell me if you get the behavior you are expecting?

I guess I don't understand this bug in it's entirety..
Comment 8 James Richardson 2009-02-23 14:06:38 UTC
does it also happen on the player UI or web UI? or with SqueezePlay?
Comment 9 Patrick Dixon 2009-02-25 06:33:11 UTC
I imagine if I disable 'play other songs' the bug won't occur, but I'll try when I get a chance.

It doesn't happen with the SB3 IR UI.

To reproduce, find an artist with artist and VA albums and select the VA album through browse artist on the controller UI. Push into that album and you will see just the tracks on that VA album by the artist selected - say track 3 and track 9. Select track 3 and play, and the album will commence playing from track 1 which is a different track by a different artist.

Ben: your thoughts on this? Using the SBC I see the behavior described in comment #9

Using the player UI I don't see this behavior
Comment 11 Ross Levine 2009-03-11 18:08:24 UTC
Patrick, have you had a chance to try this after disabling play other tracks?
Comment 12 Patrick Dixon 2009-03-14 10:14:28 UTC
If you disable play other songs, it just plays the correct track - a playlist of one track.

We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future.

Thanks!
Comment 14 Chris Owens 2009-03-30 17:19:58 UTC
Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it.

Thanks.

Moving to the product SqueezePlay because this bug appears to apply to any player based on that application code. Feel free to move it back if it's specific to the single original product.
