Description Patrick Dixon 2009-01-14 05:30:01 UTC
Version: 7.4 - 24614 @ Mon Jan 12 01:14:31 PST 2009
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux

Controller 7.3 r3476

From time to time, when browsing back up from the track level of an album to the list of artists, and scrolling to another artist, you are prevented from push down into that artist. The only option is to go back up to 'Artists' and then down to the alphanumeric listing of the artists, scroll back to the artist and on down.

This seems reproducible as follows:

Browse Artists
Navigate to Artist and down to track and play a track.
Wait for Screensaver to kick in
Press centre button to switch to track display
Press back to navigate back to alphanumeric list of Artists
Scroll to another artist
Press centre button to select new artist
Display will bump but will not push down into list of albums by that Artist.

I have seen the exact same thing on my controller. Using 7.3.1 on the server, running Ubuntu Linux. I also have the same way of reproducing the bug, but my feeling is that it is somewhat inconsistent...

Can y'all try SC 7.3.3 with Controller r3993. does the same thing happen?
Comment 3 Dennis Mutsaers 2009-02-21 01:42:45 UTC
Yes, it happens with 7.3.3 R3993 too.
Comment 4 KDF 2009-03-15 01:38:56 UTC
bump usually means something failed in the query to SC. Is there anything in the SC server.log file?
Comment 5 Chris Owens 2009-03-16 09:48:23 UTC
We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future.

Thanks!

"bump usually means something failed in the query to SC. Is there anything in
the SC server.log file?"

Nothing shows up in the log - using the default log settings.

Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it.

Thanks.
Comment 8 Patrick Dixon 2009-03-30 23:54:51 UTC
I think this needs to be addressed for 7.3.3 as it's a clear controller handset bug that many people will come across in their normal use of the product, and which materially affects the user's experience of the product.

I also think that it's been introduced relatively recently, and if so, there will be complaints from people upgrading about the quality of new software releases.

This appears likely to be a duplicate of bug 11284
