Screen prints with and without scrollbars/menus

Oftentimes I will click a link in SC and when the page appears there will be no scrollbar or dropdown menus. It's a random event and doesn't always occur. I've attached some examples here. The first shows the Plug-In tab with no scrollbar. The second shows the Player tab with no dropdown menus.

I can eventually get the scrollbar if I click back and forth between tabs. The third and fourth print screen shows the two pages the way they should appear.

This has been going on for weeks. I first noticed this with 7.3. I had hoped updating to 7.3.1 would fix it, but it has not. I've had the same problem with other SC pages as well (e.g., not being able to scroll down a list of Artists).

Gary - please make sure you've cleared all caches (browser and SC - use the cleanup tool from the SqueezeCenter item in the Windows start menu) and try again.

Do you see an error message bottom left in IE when this issue occurs? Are you using a security package (antivirus, firewall etc.) which offers "privacy protection" or similar?

And please don't upload screenshots in word documents. They're _huge_. Just upload .jpg files or .png. (I don't even have word on my dev machine...). Thanks!

I also have the same problem, the description is accurate for my system too. Also, sometimes play button etc. disappear from songs in albumview. Clearing cache in browser and SC does nothing. No error message in windows status bar.
No error messages in windows event viewer. No similar problems with other applications.

Here is some information:

Win XP SP3, fully updated with IE 7

Firewall and Security Center disabled
Kaspersky Antivirus (problem are there even if AV is disabled, I have also added all SC related .exe's in the exclusion list)
Spybot search and destroy anti-malware (with a "immunization" feature)
ATI display drivers (Catalyst controlcenter, latest)
Audigy 2 creative soundcard with latest drivers
Canon IP 4300 printer (not sure if the drivers are the latest)
Agfa scanner (old model with some older drivers)
Sagem USB wireless adapter, using driver that came with it

Do I need to choose "Clean cache folder, including music database, artwork cache, etc"? It has the single exclamation point next to it, so that sounds like a pretty serious step.

I chose "Delete file cache for artwork, templates, etc.", and cleared the IE7 cache, too (I assume when I choose "Delete All" in the Delete Browsing History pop-up...which deletes temporary files, cookies, etc....that clears the entire cache). I still have the same problem.

In answer to your other questions, 1) I enabled the status bar in my browswer window and there are no error messages in the bottom left-hand corner when I recreate the problem. 2) I'm using Norton 360, but I've had that product with previous versions of SC with no problem.

Patched ext-all.js to fix onReady() issue

This file might solve this issue for good:

- download the .zip file
- unpack it -> you should now have a ext-all.js file
- replace server/HTML/EN/html/ext/ext-all.js with this new file
- clear all caches
- reload SC

Does this help?

The attached JS Script appears to fix this (as well as other IE7) issues

Sorry, but I still have the problem. Opened SC and played around menus, and it occured again in album view. Not seen it in settings menu yet. It seems that the problem comes and goes with longer time intervals, but it's very much there.

After a few minutes it's obvious the same problem in album view. Have reproduced it 3 times already. Not yet in settings menus.

I cleared all possible private data and cache in IE, and chose "wipe'em all" in SC. Located the file and replaced it with the one provided.

That change is not even checked in yet... And I'll have to fix the Album view issue as well (same issue, but different file).
Comment 13 Michael Herger 2009-01-15 00:03:10 UTC
change 24655 - checked in patched version of all needed .js files. It should hopefully be in tonight's build.
Comment 14 Gary J 2009-01-15 17:59:30 UTC
Not sure what happened, Michael, but I couldn't get SC to restart after following your instructions. Finally resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling SC, and then replaced the .js file. So far, the Settings screens appear as they should, but I want to make sure they still do after I've made sure all my other settings, plug-ins, etc. are back to the way I had them.

Not ready to declare victory yet, but it does look promising. I'll report back after the weekend. Thanks!

You shouldn't need to download those file. Just install the latest 7.3.x nightly build.

Please re-open if you still see this issue.

Gary and Aasmund,

Do you still see this issue with the currently nightly of 7.3.3?
