Description bitli 2009-01-10 01:22:03 UTC
The podcast description file:
http://www.rsr.ch/podcast.aspx?rss=impatience
is currently badly formatted (truncated), on Jan 9 and 10 (this is signaled to the provider).

When attempting to browse it, the controller show the error>

no element found at line 455,
column 1, byte 25070 at
/usr/share/squeezecenter/CPAN/XML/Parser.pm line 187

This is fine and helpful for the log, but I would expect end user would be more helped with a message like:
Badly formatted podcast http://www.rsr.ch/podcast.aspx?rss=impatience, at line 187.

This is minor, but end users may think there is a problem with squeezeserver, rather than with the podcast.

Server: Version : 7.3.2 - 24555 @ Thu Jan 8 03:13:03 PST 2009,
under XUbuntu 8.04 up to date.

What version of Firmware is on the SBController?

Please retest with SC 7.3.3, does the same thing happen?

Comment 2 James Richardson 2009-01-30 15:04:24 UTC
I am unable to reproduce the error with SC 7.3.3 or prod.SN, it looks like the broadcaster fixed the issue?

Andy: Is there anything we can do to trap for this kind of error.
Comment 3 bitli 2009-01-31 01:43:47 UTC
The broadcaster fixed the issue, so I am not able to check if this still happens. I assume the problem is more general - it there is any parsing error, how to inform the user that there is an issue with the broadcaster (and not in the logitech gear).
Thanks

Fixed in change 25066.

Error message is now "Failed to parse".
