Bugzilla – Bug 10633
M4A Files do not play on Windows Home Server
Last modified: 2012-02-27 17:32:59 UTC
Created attachment 4613 [details] Transcoding log for M4A bug on Windows Home Server with SC7.3.1 I have just upgraded to SC 7.3.1 on my Windows Home Server machine. My M4A files no longer play, while they used to perfectly fine under 7.3. I either hear a pop sound from my SB3 or nothing at all and the moves onto the next track on the album. Sometimes I get the (Rebuffering...) message on the Squeezebox. Squeezecenter claims the file is AAC or Movie, but I guess that just comes from the extension. They are not lossless. I have not altered the convert.conf files at all. I am attaching the releavant extract from the logs.
We are now planning to make a 7.3.3 release. Please review your bugs (all marked open against 7.3.3) to see if they can be fixed in the next few weeks, or if they should be retargeted for 7.4 or future. Thanks!
Since there's now a planned 7.3.3 release, bugs which won't make the cut-off are being moved to the next target out. If you feel that this bug needs to be addressed more (or less) urgently than the 7.4 release, please cc chris@slimdevices.com and leave a comment in the bug to that effect so we can review it. Thanks.
For some reason Bugzilla did not change the target when I did this yesterday. Or maybe it was me. In either case, I'm trying it again.
Wigster, do you still have this issue with 7.3.3?
This has been working fine recently, although I am not sure whether that's because of the upgraded SC or because I installed Quicktime at some point.
(In reply to comment #5) > This has been working fine recently, although I am not sure whether that's > because of the upgraded SC or because I installed Quicktime at some point. Great to hear! Keep in mind that 7.3.3 switched from mov123 to faad for most aac decoding so quicktime should no longer be required.
Closing resolved bugs - if you feel this bug still exists please first re-test with the latest SW/FW version. If you are able to reproduce then feel free to reopen and attach new logs / steps to reproduce.
