Bugzilla – Bug 10609
Albums Longer than Standard Cd will be split into 2 albums when Importing into SqueezeCenter

Ticket# 090103-002829 Environment: SqueezeCenter 7.3.1 Windows XP iTunes version is 8.0.2.20 Symptom: I downloaded a set of mp3 files from a live Metallica concert. The concert was almost two hours in length. The concert was split into two albums in SqueezeCenter, but not in iTunes. It appears that SqueezeCenter can't handle an album that's longer than a standard CD and will split it into two albums. Once again, iTunes handles this situation correctly and SqueezeCenter doesn't. Artist: Metallica Album: 2008/12/12 Ontario, CA (Disc 1) Album: 2008/12/12 Ontario, CA (Disc 2)
SC doesn't care about a CD's length. Are these files which can be downloaded freely? What are your disc group settings in SC?
I guarantee this is an issue with the tags of the files and/or the directory structure of the downloaded files.
LaRon: is this where the customer downloaded his files? http://www.livemetallica.com/live-music/0,224/Metallica-mp3-flac-download-12-20-2008-Oracle-Arena-Oakland-CA.html
Here's how to download the live Metallica concert: 1. Go to https://www.livemetallica.com/giftredeem.aspx 2. Once at https://www.livemetallica.com/giftredeem.aspx you will need to login or create an account if you are a new user. After logging in, input this code: MTP081212254A578BEF 3. The download will be automatically added to your shopping cart. 4. After submitting your code, follow the instructions for checkout. I first loaded these mp3 files into iTunes using the "Add folder to library" command in iTunes. The concert was loaded as a single album in iTunes. When I then synced iTunes to SqueezeCenter, the concert was loaded into SqueezeCenter as two separate albums. The first song on disc #2 in SqueezeCenter is "The Day That Never Comes".
Thank you for the links, I was able to confirm that ID3 Tag data for 'Disc' is present on all tracks. Disc 1 = track 1/11 Disc 2 = track 12/20 SC is interpreting and applying the Disc ID, iTunes and WMP11 are not interpreting or applying the Disc ID

Interesting the iTunes ignores this tag, which resulted in the desired behavior in this case. Is there a way to tell SqueezeCenter to ignore the tag on these files, or possible remove this tag from the files? This concert should really be one album, not two.
Yes, you can modify the ID3 tags and remove or modify the DISC tag. SC does not offer tag editing, so you will need to use another application to do that. There are several out there, just do an internet search for ID3 Tag Editor.

There are several out there, just do an internet search for ID3 Tag > Editor. Thanks for the suggestion. I was able to download an application that allowed me to edit the ID3 tags. The Metallica concert is now one album in SqueezeCenter. I was also able to fix the tags on several other albums that were incorrectly showing disc counts (e.g. disc 4 of 9). It appears SqueezeCenter is reading and using the tags correctly, but other software like iTunes is ignoring the tags. Since SqueezeCenter is a secondary library, any discrepancy with the primary library (e.g. iTunes) will be called into question. The ability to edit tags in SqueezeCenter will allow even non-technical users the ability to understand what's causing the discrepancy and fix it.
