Description Julius Dauz 2009-01-07 16:43:53 UTC
I have experienced this issue with 2 customers already.

One customer had a Squeezebox Classic and the other a Boom. I had the customer update the firmware of both units using an ethernet connection.

The customer had the 2wire setup to use default wireless settings, so security was configured for 64bit WEP using the default key.

The issue was the Squeezebox would state that it connected to the network after you enter the WEP key, but when you have it attempt to obtain an IP address automatically, it fails and flashes the message, "Could not find DHCP server".

In both cases, I walked the customer through changing the wireless encryption from WEP 64bit to WPA-Personal and in both cases it fixed the issue.

There is no way for WEP encryption to indicate the key is correct. In other words, the key could just be incorrect, and you will get the 'cannot acquire address from DHCP error'.

Another test would have been to have the customer change the WEP key to something very easy to enter with a Squeezebox remote like 10 1's.
